Most personal training programs assume you already know what you're doing. We assume you're starting fresh, take you by the hand and guide you from day one. Dr. Emily Blair is a licensed chiropractor with advanced training in Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS), and she designed every one of our programs around how your body actually works. Sessions cap at three to four people. Your trainer knows your name, your injury history, and what your body needs right now.
If you've tried a bootcamp or a group class that ended in an injury, you already know that moving fast and moving well aren't the same thing. DNS-based training starts with stability before it adds load, which means you build real strength instead of working around what hurts.
Remember, Albuquerque sits at 5,312 feet above sea level - getting back in shape in the Duke City already asks more of a deconditioned body than it would at a lower elevation. The programs below start exactly where you are, and we've been coaching people like you since 2017. Base rates run $55 per session for Smart Strength and Kettlebell 101 (4 students max) and $65 for Foundations of Fitness (3 students max). Punch cards and monthly plans can drop those average prices to below $35 per session. No contracts, no enrollment fees.
GOT QUESTIONS?
Small Group Personal Training in Albuquerque
If you've been lost in a multi-person bootcamp class, or got hurt in one, our small group personal training in Albuquerque limits sessions to only 3–4 people. A trainer watches your form on every rep, and we make adjustments for your body and unique needs. You get the accountability of a class and the attention of private coaching.
Most Albuquerque gyms call 10–15 people a "small group." Here, our coaches know your name, your injury history, and your specific issues - so they're able to help you with detailed exercises and movements tailored to the current state of YOUR body.

Personal Training for Women Over 40 in Albuquerque
The bone density changes and estrogen decline that happen in the years around menopause are real and time-sensitive, which is why Dr. Blair designed this program specifically for that window: DNS-based resistance work sequenced to your body's actual state, with support from a local nurse practitioner and psychiatric nurse through the Menopause Squad, a partnership built so clients can address the physical, hormonal, and mental health dimensions of menopause without bouncing between providers who don't talk to each other.
Strength Training for Beginners
in Albuquerque
Most people trying to get stronger hit a ceiling not because they aren't strong enough, but because their body is using tension to hold itself together instead of true stability. DNS takes people back through the movement patterns they were born with - the ones that got disrupted by desk jobs, old injuries, and years of compensation. Once those patterns are back, everything else works better and lasts longer.
At Square One, beginner programming starts with Dr. Blair's DNS-based approach, which builds stability first and adds load second. That means the first thing you develop is a foundation your body can actually hold. If you've never lifted, returned after years away, or got hurt somewhere else and are afraid to try again, this is where you start.

Personal Training for Seniors
in Albuquerque
The ability to get off the floor without help, carry weight without bracing, and stay steady on a Sandia foothills trail are not fitness goals. They are independence. Dr. Blair's senior programming builds each of those capacities from where your body actually is: DNS-grounded stability work and joint-specific progressions that account for your real injury history, not a generic age bracket.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is personal training at Square One really for someone like me if I'm a complete beginner?
Yes. Most people who train here had no gym experience when they started. The sessions are small by design, with a maximum of four people per class, so you get real coaching attention from the first day. Dr. Blair is a Doctor of Chiropractic with advanced training in movement assessment. She meets you where you are right now and builds from there. You don't need to get in shape before you show up.
I have a bad back (or bad knees, or a recent injury). Can I still train here?
This is one of the most common situations that brings people through the door. Dr. Blair's background in chiropractic care and Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization means she's trained to assess movement, identify compensation patterns, and modify every exercise to your current capacity. If you're unsure whether your body is ready to train, the Detailed Fitness Evaluation is the right first step. It is a one-on-one session where Dr. Blair reviews your history and guides you through a movement assessment before you join any class.
What's the difference between semi-private training and a regular group fitness class?
In a large group class or a bootcamp, the instructor is managing the whole room. In a semi-private session, the trainer is managing you. Square One caps every session at three to four people, which means your form gets corrected, your questions get answered, and your program gets adjusted when something isn't working for your body. You get the coaching quality of one-on-one training at a price point that works for more people.
How long before I start seeing results?
It depends on what you're measuring and where you're starting. Most people notice that daily movements feel easier within the first few weeks. Strength gains that show up in a meaningful way typically take six to twelve weeks of consistent training. The goal here isn't a short-term result. It's building a foundation that holds up over years, not just until the next injury.
Can I use HSA funds or health insurance to pay for personal training?
Some New Mexico health insurance plans will reimburse certain fitness costs, and some plans allow HSA funds to be applied to personal training. It varies by policy, so it's worth checking yours directly. If your plan covers it, training at Square One may qualify. This is a question worth asking your insurance provider before you assume it's entirely out of pocket.
