You Don't Have to "Get in Shape" Before You Walk in the Door

Smart Strength is a semi-private training class for people who want to move better, get stronger, and do it without getting hurt.

Whether you're coming back from an injury, returning to exercise after years away, or just tired of feeling lost in a crowded gym, this is where you start. We keep class size to four people, max, so that you have plenty of guidance and support.

What You'll Learn

Smart Strength teaches the six movements your body needs to function well in real life:

  • Push: getting things off a shelf, opening a heavy door
  • Pull: picking up a grandchild, hauling a bag of groceries
  • Hinge: bending to pick something up from the floor without wincing
  • Squat: getting up from a chair without using your hands
  • Stabilize: staying steady on uneven ground, on a trail, or in your own home
  • Carry: getting everything in from the car in one trip

Our top-notch trainers will help you find your most efficient form so that you can build strength in the safest manner possible. Each movement can be modified to meet your ability level.

Why This Is Different

A lot of fitness classes focus on how hard you're working. Smart Strength focuses on how well you're moving because that's the reason people get injured at bootcamps and big-box gyms, and why so many of them give up afterward.

Dr. Emily Blair is a chiropractor who has spent over a decade understanding why bodies break down and how to help them recover. Every exercise in Smart Strength is informed by that clinical background. She and her trainers will notice things about how you move that most fitness instructors wouldn't catch, and they'll help you fix them before they become a problem.

Class size is capped at four people so we can give you the coaching attention you actually need.

Who This Is For

Smart Strength is a good fit if any of these sounds like you:

  • You've been told you need to "get stronger" but you don't know where to start
  • You got hurt at a gym, a bootcamp, or a CrossFit class and you're nervous to try again
  • You're in your 40s, 50s, or 60s and your body doesn't respond the way it used to
  • You want someone in the room who actually knows what they're looking at
  • You're done feeling judged, lost, or like the room was designed for someone younger

What to Expect

Sessions are semi-private, meaning you train alongside a small group of people at a similar starting point. You'll get the personalized attention of one-on-one training without the one-on-one price tag.

Expect to feel challenged and supported in equal measure. We want you to leave class knowing something you didn't know when you walked in.
